Wellbeing Support:
At Blackheath School of Dance, we believe dance should be a place where young people feel safe, supported and free to express themselves.
Our students come to us not only to train physically, but to grow in confidence, creativity, resilience and emotional wellbeing. We also recognise that modern school life, friendships, exams, family pressures and big emotions can sometimes feel overwhelming. Supporting the whole child, not just the dancer, is incredibly important to us.
To strengthen this support, we are delighted to partner with Ines Gomes, founder of The Feelings Teacher, who will be working alongside BSOD to provide dedicated wellbeing support for students, families and staff.
Lucy and the BSOD team remain fully available for conversations and check-ins, and this partnership allows us to offer even more specialist care when it is needed.
Meet Ines
Ines brings over 20 years of experience supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and families. Her work combines Emotion Coaching, Restorative Practice and Neurodiversity-informed strategies, helping young people understand their feelings and develop the tools to manage them with confidence.
She is also a familiar face within our community, having been a proud BSOD dance parent for over 15 years, giving her a real understanding of both the joys and pressures of dance training.
In-house support at BSOD
Throughout each term, Ines will offer:
• Gentle emotional check-ins with students
• Mini wellbeing circles within classes
• Free 15-minute drop-in appointments for students, parents, guardians and teachers
• Workshops and talks focused on wellbeing and resilience
These sessions will take place on selected Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Leigh Academy Halley.
Her first official drop-in session will be:
Friday 6 March from 5pm
External family support
For families who would benefit from more personalised or ongoing support, Ines also offers private sessions from her office in the heart of Blackheath Village.
These sessions allow for deeper, tailored guidance around anxiety, confidence, friendships, behaviour, neurodiversity, or family challenges.
BSOD families receive an exclusive discount for selected workshops.
